Even with a late night watching fireworks we were still up early and ready for more fishing. John set up the new fishing poles for the lil’ kids. As they were waiting for us to head to the pond, they practiced casting.
John then introduced the kids to the worms they would be using to fish. The boys of course picked them with no problems. Makaela was a little hesitant about touching them, but warmed up after a while.
We then headed to the pond. On the first day, Noah caught the most fish, Caleb caught the biggest, and Ian didn’t catch any. So, they were all ready to see what the day held for each of them. Ian took over Noah’s rank as the one who caught the most. Noah was very frustrated only catching a few. And Caleb did well catching some good sized fish!
Eli had help casting and caught a few fish himself.
At first we had thought of just leaving the fake fish on Makaela’s fishing pole so she could cast and fish all she wanted. She quickly figured out what we were doing and wanted bait. We put a hook and worm on her pole, then Makaela caught a fish on her Barbie fishing pole! She was very excited.
After Eli and Makaela got bored fishing, we went on a walk around the pond, took pictures, and pretended that there were lions, tigers, and bears in the wooded area. Oh MY!
Before lunch, John’s mom showed up and we spent the rest of the day hanging out at the house. Late that evening the boys got a few more hours of fishing in. Eli and Makaela were pretty tired so we didn’t stay at the pond long. We went up to the house and hung out with Grandma and Grandpa on the porch. Another fun day!
