Back home

It never fails no matter how much fun you have on a trip, you are always happy to be home.  This trip was no different.  We got back home Sunday evening and got ready for the week ahead.  Okay, we rested for the week ahead.  I didn’t even really unpack much that night.  We were tired!

The first week home, we did laundry, and more laundry!  With fishing and being gone five days there was a lot of laundry, fishy smelling laundry.  The kids got back into their routine of playing outside in the morning while I worked on getting things cleaned up.  We also had the normal, shopping, hanging out, and new projects.

Makaela within the last month has really gotten into playing with her doll house.  The boys were outside and she wanted to play inside, so I pulled it out for her.  Surprisingly, she played with it by herself.  She even let me get the pictures and went back to playing.

One afternoon, I decided to let the kids play with baking soda and vinegar.  I got everything ready thinking that the littler three could just drop vinegar onto the baking soda and then the older two could use it to blow up balloons.  Well, I couldn’t find any eye droppers, must have left those at the old school or they are in the bottom of my boxes and I missed them.  We need eye droppers for this.  I tried straws, but it just didn’t work.  We just poured the vinegar on the baking soda.  The balloon trick did work and the kids thought it was awesome.  It took me about twenty minutes trying to find all the supplies, stupid eye droppers; then about five for them to finish with it all.  Oh well, they had fun and now every day want to do a “science experiment”.

We got the water relay stuff out again.  They enjoyed that for a little while.  It ended in a water fight, again!

After the water fight, Makaela decided to put on her brothers’ boots to ride bikes and dry off.  We have nicked named her Cinderella because she doesn’t keep her shoes on and seems to like shoes that fall off.  She has one of Eli’s and then one of Noah’s shoes on.  Crazy girl!

Our first weekend back home, we decided to run to the mall to look for some birthday presents for Eli and check out stuff we needed for back to school.  We didn’t want to run around at the last minute before school, so we could “shop”.  In the mall we ran into Justin Beiber.  Okay, not the real person, but a life size cardboard cutout; so what do we do?  Take a picture with him.  I really need to thank my sisters for my kids liking him so much.  I can not tell you the number of times I can hear in a day, “I’m Justin Beiber”, yes my boys pretend to be him no matter what game they are playing.  Crazy, I know.

The one with just Makaela in it, we send to my sister Bridgette with a text saying “he’s mine” as a joke.  Then my other sister Mary had to send us her picture with JB.  I guess we aren’t the only ones taking pictures in the mall with the cardboard JB!

Can’t help but have fun with this group!  Our first week back home was a good one!
