Just about every night, when John is not trying to finish a project or mow the lawn, the boys will throw the football around. Some nights its more than just throwing the ball. John is the all time quarterback, then each boy takes turn being a receiver. The others then play defense trying to keep the receiver from making a first down or even touch down. They have spots in the yard to help keep up with their yardage.
One night we needed to water the grass. At first the boys stuck to one end of the yard while the other side was being watered. Then John decided to make the game interesting and created what we now call “sprinkler football”. John stood out of the sprinkler range still as quarterback but now the football field included a sprinkler. The boys loved it!
They were soaking wet, but loving every minute of it. Even Makaela got in on the game. She and Eli will either get their own ball to throw around or to John in between his game with the big boys; or just do their own thing. During Sprinkler Football they were wanting to be in on all the fun.
When we water the grass in the front yard, we are asked if they can play Sprinkler Football again. Unfortunately, we do have to limit them playing it, because we don’t want to trample the grass when wet, since we are
trying to grow it!
