Last Day at Grandpa’s

On our last day at Great Grandpa’s we got up early and headed to the pond.  The plan was to fish, help Grandma and Grandpa with a few things around the house, eat lunch, and then head to John’s dad’s.

By this time the older boys were pro’s at casting, baiting, and getting fish off their own lines.  Eli and Makaela only last so long fishing.  Ian also started to get a little bored.  Funny how when the fish are slow to bite, the kids run quick to run out of patience!

The big boys found a spot and were catching a fish every time they threw out their line.  The younger ones and I went on another walk around the pond then sat on the swing for a while.

After fishing, John took everyone on a ride on the four wheeler.  They loved it.

Then John and I started helping Grandpa with some chores before lunch.  During lunch, John’s cousin Cody showed up.  He had stopped by to pick up a riding lawn mower; after lunch John helped Cody load the lawn mower into his trailer.  I was inside getting ready to leave, when the kids came in talking about Eli putting his finger into Grandpa’s fan.  My heart skipped a beat as I tried to get them to fast forward to the part on if he was okay.  Then I noticed Eli wasn’t really crying, so he had to be okay.  The story was, Eli slid his hand through the wires on the back of this old fan at the barn.  They said the noise made everyone think at first Eli lost a finger.  When he pulled it out of the fan, he of course was holding his finger.  John said that he didn’t see any blood, a good sign, but did he break it?  When he looked at it, he just had a very small piece of skin missing.  Eli’s guardian angel was really on guard.  THANK GOD!  We were VERY blessed.  I looked at Eli’s finger and asked him if he said “Thank you Jesus”.  We tried to make sure he understood just how lucky he was, so hopefully he doesn’t try and stick his finger into another fan.

After everyone was showered and we were just about packed Courtney and Killian, Cody’s wife and son showed up.  It was our first time to meet Killian.  He is such a cutie!  The kids enjoyed playing with him for awhile.  They even tried to brain wash him, check out the hat he is wearing!  Yes, it’s an Aggie hat!

Makaela was cranky and wouldn’t take a picture without sitting in my lap; so, I’m in the picture of all the cousins.
