For his weekend, he built the kids a picnic table as mentioned in a previous blog-
DIY John. On Sunday, he wanted to take the kids to a movie. Even on “his” weekend, he still continues to put his kids first. So, after church we went and saw Madagascar 3. The kids enjoyed it. Makaela had a rough time trying to fall asleep during the movie, so John worked some Daddy magic and she was asleep in no time. I think we all had the polka dot afro song stuck in our heads all day!
When we got home it was raining a little, so we let the kids play in it. John decided to set up his new table saw (Father’s Day gift for himself). The rain entertained his usual helpers, so he got the saw put together easily. They played football, tag, and of course danced in the rain!
If you ask me, these crazy kids take after their Daddy! He really is the best dad ever! I know that they probably won’t figure it out until they are older and have kids of their own. I remember when we first got pregnant with Noah he was so nervous, not having any experience with “babies”. He jumped right into the Dad role and never looked back. When we had Makaela he was a little nervous because “she’s a girl”, but he figured out babies are babies. I grew up with little ones always around, so in a way I’m used to it. John didn’t; looking at him you couldn’t tell. He is wonderful! I think all the boys are “Daddy’s boys” and even Makaela is turning into a “Daddy’s girl.” She may have started out by saying Mommy, but Daddy is now the most said! They all want to hang out and help Daddy. When he gets home they run to tell him hi and give hugs. It’s pretty sweet to watch, especially Makaela with her big grin and her little “daddy, daddy”. They are lucky to have him.
Happy Father’s Day to a wonderful dad and husband. Thank you, John, for all that you do for your family. We love you and appreciate everything, even when it doesn’t seem like it. Love you!
