Fun at Grandma’s

On Monday when we got to my parents, we had a lazy day.  I was tired from the week and weekend before.  My parents had some errands to run before my dad left the following day.  So, we hung around the house.  Ethan and Rachel played outside and Wii with the kiddos.

Tuesday was my girls’ day with Kelly and Mom took Dad to the airport.  The boys did get to give Papaw his Father’s Day book before he left.  I’ll have to write about that later.  They tried to play outside in the pool when it started raining and had to come inside.

Wednesday, Mom and I talked and decided to take the bowling.  It was Mom’s idea mostly and I thought with all the extra help it might work.  We hadn’t taken the boys before.  They enjoyed it.  Well, Ian and Eli did because they did better than Noah and Caleb.  Makaela got bored of course.  We also had Aunt Bridgette, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Ethan, and a family friend Robert.  My boys love Robert.  They think he is SO cool!

Here are the boys Rockin’ the Bowling Kicks!  Makaela did not want to take a picture.

The score during game one.  The boys loved the fact that they did better than Aunt Bridgette!

Noah was the most stressed by bowling, as you can tell below.  He just couldn’t figure out how to do better.  He was being typical Noah having to be the best or he didn’t really want to play.  I told him he was only going to get better by practicing, so he stuck it out and kept trying.  Back at home he told John we needed to go bowling more because he needed lots of practice.

After lunch, Bridgette had a dentist appointment and Noah and Caleb tagged along.  They then hung out at Aunt Lauren’s with Bridgette and Ethan until she got off.  I met them there with the rest of the kids when Lauren was off.  Lauren and I then took the kids to Chuck E Cheese.  Another first.  I felt bad with these first without John.  I told myself that it was good to try these things with all the extra help.  Sometimes doing things for the first time with all the kids can be overwhelming for John and I.  Especially. in places where they will want/need lots of help and be going in different directions.  I thought this way I could see what it was like before John and I tried to do it ourselves.  We had looked at Chuck E Cheese years ago for Noah’s birthday, but just didn’t seem like they had much for Noah’s age at the time or the age group of my siblings.  This visit was different.  If the one close to our house now is like the one in Austin, we can take the kids no problem.

My Aunt Kate and her son Luke met us there.  Luke is so different from my boys.  He is very calm and quiet.  Such a sweetie!  I didn’t get many pictures.  Everyone had a buddy to help with the games.  My buddy was Makaela, hence not very many pictures.

Makaela tried dancing, but only the top of her head showed up on the TV screens.  Ian had done it earlier and I didn’t think about getting a picture.  I guess I was laughing too much.

The boys had their pictures taken, and so did Rachel with Ian.

Towards the end of our dinner, Eli started to feel bad.  He got very whinny and attached himself to me. Then I noticed he seemed like he was running a low grade fever.  I took him out to the car while the kids finished up the tokens.  I had some Tylenol in the diaper bag so I gave it to him.  Before I could sit in the drivers seat and call John, he fell asleep.  He woke up when everyone came outside and we went back to mom’s.  His fever was gone by the time we got to Mom’s and later that night he felt fine.  Don’t know what that was!

Thursday we headed back home, while Bridgette got eight teeth pulled!  We enjoyed the visit with the family, but everyone wanted to be back at home.  We had been gone for a week and had been in three different cities not counting my trip to Fredericksburg.  Yeah, it was time to go home.
