Our wanna be waiter

One more thing from this past school year!  Noah brought home a few projects from earlier in the year and I am finally able to add pictures of them to finish this blog.

When I worked we ate out A LOT.  The staff and waiters at many local restaurants knew us.  We didn’t even have to give a name at On the Border and they knew exactly what we would need.

Sooo….. When do you know you eat out WAY too much?

When your 7 year old wants to be a waiter.

Here are pictures of his school project for open house.  They had to decorate a bear to show what they wanted to be when they grew up.  At open house his teacher made a point to show us this picture.  She thought it was funny.  I wanted to hide from embarrassment. Since we’ve moved, we really have cut back on eating out.  I guess the damage was already done.

It gets better.  Just before school let out, the first graders put on a “Reading Restaurant”, where the kids are waiters and serve up some good books.  Such a cute idea and was a wonderful way to let the kids show off their reading skills.  Noah of course got into it.

He was very excited and practiced his “Hi.  Welcome to the First Grade Reading Restaurant.  My name is Noah, would you like to look at a menu?”  He would even pause letting you know that this is where the person would look at the “menu” and choose which book they wanted to read.

Then he would continue with “That is a good choice.  I will be right back with your order.”  He would go to his bag of books and pull out the one wanted and sit down next to his “customer” and read.  John took off work so he could go.  We took turns going to the school and visiting the Reading Restaurant.  Again, such a great idea!  Can’t wait to go again next year for Caleb.

Side notes: Where the Wild Things Are and If Animals Kissed Good Night, he did a really good job of reading with expressions.  If you asked his favorite he would say the wild things.  His least favorite was the penguins because it was a long book.  And the hippo one he said was just really short.  I asked for If Animals Kissed Good Night and John asked for Where the Wild Things Are.
