Soccer 2012

I have to mention this just because this is one of my favorite edited pictures.  The first and last time we played soccer was Caleb in fall of 2010.  I was teaching, pregnant, and then a few weeks into it the season we had a new born.  We didn’t skip a beat Makaela was born and a few days later we were out on the field cheering him on.  She was the cutest and quietest cheerleader!

I’ve missed soccer, well any sport I guess.  I’ll admit I’m that parent that yells and probably gets way too in to the game.  I don’t know exactly why I have missed the boys playing sports, maybe its just seeing them in a competitive atmosphere other than against each other in the front yard.  Even though I am upset about them not being all on the same team, I am positive that this will be an experience to remember.

There was only one practice for each team before the first round of games, so I was very anxious on how they would go.  Both teams are full of kids that have never really played before.  The first practices looked like something out of the beginning of a movie like “The Big Green” or “Kicking and Screaming”.  The first games went just like the first games for the teams in the movies as well.

The boys did well.  It always makes me smile to see that they are pretty good athletes.  It makes me think all the playing around the house really does help with their motor skills and reaction times.  Caleb and Ian had to be reminded a few times that they were on the same time.  All of the boys are pretty quick and chased the ball back and forth across the field. They are also not afraid to get into the middle of the mob and get the ball.  Ian showed that he can’t be pushed around just because he is small. During Noah’s game he was kicked in the leg and laid on the ground and John and I just yelled “Get up. You’ll be fine.” I’m sure parents thought we were terrible, but getting hurt is a normal thing at our house. Our motto is if it’s not bleeding or broken, it’s no big deal. Noah didn’t jump up and the coach actually took him out of the game, he limped off the field a little.  I felt a little bad, but then again it’s Noah and I thought he was probably being a little dramatic about it.  At the second half he was back in the game running around.  Later we found out he was kicked and he was pretty sore the rest of the day.  I of course teased him about being tuff.  I know, terrible mom.

We enjoyed the games and figured out what to work on for the next time.  I took the camera but figured out that I was too into actually watching the game to take pictures.  I got some, but I guess next time I need to focus more on the camera, then maybe I won’t look so much like a crazy soccer mom!  I can only imagine what it is going to be like when the two teams play each other!
