Happy Birthday Makaela

I can’t believe that two years ago we welcomed into the world our little girl.  I don’t think we really knew what we were getting into, but we didn’t worry about that then.  We all fell for that sweet little face.  Her big brothers thought she was a princess and her parents thought she was an angel.

Then two years later, if you ask her she is still a princess!  Not so sure some days about the angel part.

Her birthday was on a Friday, but we waited for Saturday so we could celebrate her birthday with family.  We did go out to eat that night and there was a Balloon Artist (not sure what they are called) at the restaurant and he made something for each of the kids.  The boys thought Makaela needed the princess wand, so that’s what he made her.  That night we put out balloons, streamers, and the princess Happy Birthday banner.

Makaela loved all the attention for her birthday, that basically lasted two days.  If you asked her whose birthday it was she would say “it’s MY bir –day” with a huge smile on her face.  After soccer games and pictures at the park, we had her party.

There was of course the Princess cupcakes and presents.  Makaela wanted her princess crown, but after it fell off once she opted for her princess headband.  It never fails you ask Makaela to say “Cheese” and you get this weird face.  The first part of her “cheese” is a cute smile, but as the camera takes it’s time to actually take the picture you get the weird face.

Aunt Rachel decided to try the crown. She also helped her open her presents. She got her first barbie- a Ballerina Belle, a littlest pet shop bunny, a stroller, a purse with wallet, books, clothes, and pj’s. One of the pj’s also had matching pj’s for her baby Belle. As Makaela unwrapped the presents, her Daddy had them opened and ready for her to play with. Uncle Ethan and Aunt Bridgette decided to have a cupcake fight. Such good role models for my kids! After the “party” Makaela pushed her Belles around in the new stroller, with of course her new purse (Aunt Lauren’s gift of course). We got to listen to princess songs (Thanks to my mom) that went with her musical book, glad I figured out that the music player actually could come off and you can turn down the music. Makaela likes to pretend it’s her phone. I think she loved her toys and couldn’t wait that evening to wear her new pj’s.

On a funny side note: That afternoon as everyone was playing and watching the recorded Aggie game, Eli comes in with Batman and the barbie Belle.  He says “Look they’re kissing.”  John mentioned how that didn’t take long.  We did find out that Eli had been looking for Captain America, but settled for Batman when he couldn’t find him.  We did tell him that Batman and Belle don’t need to kiss.
