I really can’t believe that this is the middle week of October. Time really does fly by when you are having fun!
Over the weekend after the soccer games we had Makaela burning her hand on my curling iron, projects around the house, and Noah going to a birthday party. Makaela is starting to be more and more independent. Even though I was standing there fixing her hair telling her not to touch my curling iron over and over and over, she reached out and touched it. Then came the over the top screaming. I know it hurt, but I think she was more upset that I was right! We were heading to church, so I told her to make sure she put some Holy Water on it, so Jesus could make it feel better. We did and even though she still held it up like she was a Miss Priss, I caught her moving her fingers and even holding things in that hand. Had to learn for herself!
We got a few projects done that we had been putting off. One being fixing the microwave and washer that my mom found for Makaela at Goodwill. The child will have her own little house in her room if we get the other projects done on our list. John added a door to the microwave with plexiglass. Then added plexiglass to the washer’s door. My job during the week was to paint the door.
The week wasn’t all fun. My allergies have seemed to decide that they want to make sure I get nothing done at least one day every so often. I’ve been drinking honey in my tea every day since the beginning of summer, hoping that it would curb my allergy attacks. Things had been going great until this month. I had one attack that John actually questioned if I wasn’t coming down with something. This week I had another hit Monday. When I had the first attack I thought okay need to help the honey out and take some over the counter stuff, and I started back up. Then I forget and hence the relapse on Monday. The kids think it’s a little amusing having to say “Bless you” all day long as I keep sneezing. I survived Monday and things were back to normal Tuesday.
Caleb had another project for school. This time we had to draw a family tradition. It was really hard trying to think of a family tradition. I tried to think of something that we have done every year since they were babies and I went blank. I guess we are more into making memories than traditions. Caleb came up with hunting at Great-Grandpa’s around/at Thanksgiving and our spider web on the house. I thought of carving pumpkins with dad; but the spider web was the winner. So, Caleb drew our house with the spider web and the spider. He did great!
With my allergies going crazy and noticing that Lady’s hair was really long I decided to make her an appointment to have it cut. She always looks like a different dog when she comes back, but I love not having all that hair in the house. The groomers put her in a Halloween bandana. The kids thought it was cool and want to save it for her costume. Lady is not the type of dog that lets you put things on her. I’m sure she wanted the bandana off as soon as they put it on, but we left it on her until the big boys got home to see her.
Noah also finished up a poster at home one evening. Next week is Red Ribbon week and one of their “dress up” days they are voting on what the kids want to dress like. Noah wants to dress up like Super Heroes. They are hanging them up in the hallways to promote their idea.
The Friday brought our little princess’s birthday. Earlier in the week we went and picked out her cake. As we flipped the pages in the book we came to the “Garden Princess Party” cake complete with Disney’s Belle, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty; she yelled out so excitedly “That’s Me! That’s Me!” Yes, she is our princess; but that’s for her birthday blog!
