Technically our Halloween were put up the last weekend in September but I just couldn’t post pictures until October. It just worked out that it was a good time to put up the web outside. We did have to trash our blow up pumpkin and ghost, but we still have the big spider to go with the web. Hopefully soon I can get a few other decorations out and complete our Halloween House.
This week we had a few things going on for Caleb. First he was student of the week so we had to put together a poster about him. I should mention that he actually got Buckaroo of the Week (a weekly student is chosen from each class in a school wide recognition), but I forgot to mention it. He came home excited and of course we are always proud of them when they make Buckaroo. The student of the week was for his class. They each make a poster to share some things about themselves. I try to make the boys do as much of the project as I can. This project I learned Caleb and I are different! I have always thought of him as a little like the absent minded professor. He is super smart and excels in school. But when it comes to keeping his room clean or keeping up with jackets and lunch kits he is the terrible. John thinks he is just not worried about minor details and he seems to be right on target. The poster had some minor details that I thought were important to make it look nice and he just wanted to hurry up and get it done. He wasn’t worried about the handwriting or cutting out the papers neatly. Poor guy is going to get tired of me as he has more and more projects for school.
Here are some of his answers for his poster:
Favorite Food- crawfish
Favorite Sport- soccer
Favorite Subject- (after telling him PE was not a subject) Science
Favorite Holiday- Halloween (not sure why, unless it’s the one on his mind right now)
Favorite Pet- Snake (he told me “I know its not one I can have, but I like it." He is right, we will NOT have a pet snake in my house.)
Favorite Season- Fall (again not sure if this is just because it is the current season)
Favorite Toy- DSi (duh?!)
Favorite TV Show- Scooby Doo
Favorite Pizza Topping- Pepperoni (crazy because he usually wants me to get a cheese pizza!)
Favorite Book- Froggy Plays Soccer
I’m happiest when “I play football with my Dad.”
If I had a wish it would be “that my family and I could go to the football game.” (This was finally the answer I got after he kept saying things like a DS 3D. I wasn’t sure if he understood that the wish could be for anything, do anything, etc. After that we got the football one. I asked him what game was he talking about and he said “a football game.” I asked again if he meant professional, college, what, and he said “a professional one”.
We also had a parent conference for Caleb. We had just had the conference for his speech last week, so I felt a little weird already having another conference so soon. Caleb’s teachers are wonderful. They went on and on about how wonderful he was. He is doing VERY well in all subjects and I couldn’t be more proud of him. I did find out that Caleb is a talker. At home and in the past, Caleb has always seemed to be the quieter/shyer person. His teachers informed me that he talks in class where they have to remind him to be quiet. Not enough that he is getting in trouble, but just a lot more than Noah. I am very surprised, but happy to hear it. I have always been a little worried about him, since he has a little bit of a speech issue. I love parent conferences so far. My kids are always a joy to have and that makes me feel like we are doing something right!
We also had three birthdays this week. One for my brother Zach and one for my sister Mary. The boys always think it is pretty cool that their birthdays and mine and my sister Lauren’ are back to back. We called Zach and the kids sung (yelled) Happy Birthday to him. Then the next day we got to Facetime with Mary and sing to her.
At the end of the week we had the third birthday. Well, it really wasn’t a birthday, but there was a gift. Papa and Lenora came down to visit and brought Ian’s birthday gift since we missed them on his birthday. I really think the kids like it when this happens because they love getting gifts. Ian loved his gift. He got a remote control police car that transforms and shoots darts. He played with it so much that by Saturday evening he had run the batteries dead. I told him that he would just have to wait until we went to the store again. We went out to eat that night and on the way home he asked to stop, I said no. Next thing we know Papa had stopped and got him more batteries. Yeah, not spoilt!
