The zoo had a petting zoo area where the kids were able to hang out with goats. They all enjoyed it. Makaela really enjoyed the fact that she got to touch the animals. The rest of the zoo trip she kept wanting to touch everything else. After we walked around the entire zoo, let me rephrase; after we ran around the zoo stopping long enough to see each species there; we went back to the petting zoo area. There was a little girl who showed Caleb how to find dropped feed on the ground and feed it to the goats. The feeders were empty, but the goats still wanted food and of course they didn’t care about the 5 second rule! They had miniature horses in the “petting zoo” area, but because they are not always the nicest you could pet them. Makaela really wanted to. She kept trying to figure out how to get closer.
We take turns letting Noah and Caleb use one of the cameras to take pictures when we go places. It was Noah’s turn, but I messed up and didn’t charge the camera. Noah got a few pics before the camera stopped working.
My camera, due to it’s fall at Halloween, was not working well either. Good thing Bridgette brought the Gallander camera, so we have more pictures!

Uncle Ethan and Aunt Rachel helped the boys figure out how big they were next to the Black Bear.
We got to see a hedgehog that a zookeeper was holding near the African porcupines. He asked the kids questions and of course my boys showed off their knowledge of the animal kingdom. Yes, we watch too many nature shows!
We also saw ring-tailed lemurs and had a family feud on whether it was Zoboomafoo or King Julian. Again, my entire family watches too much TV. (Zoboomafoo is a PBS show staring a ringtail lemur and the Kratt brothers. King Julian is from the movie, Madagascar.)
Here are more pictures of the animals and the fun we had at the zoo.

They had 2 male giraffes that were fighting. We joked that they must be brothers! It was very interesting since they use their necks.

All the kids had to take pictures as a giraffe. In order below- Noah, Ian, Caleb, Makaela, Eli, Rachel, Ethan, and Mary Kate.
More animals.
Then we went to the near by park. It was a really big park and had a train that went around it. Next time I’m sure we will have to give the train a try. The kiddos enjoyed the park. I’m glad we had so many people because it was hard enough keeping up with one kid, much less 4 blurs running in different directions! We used the buddy system and still had to trade off kids, as the “big” people got too tired. There aren’t any pictures because we were too busy keeping up with kids.
It was a good day at the zoo!!
