I know I’ve said it before, I’m not over having a girl. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE my boys. They are wonderfully awesome and still can melt my heart with a smile and the twinkle in their eyes.

This little girl is something else. Maybe it is just the age she is at right now, but I can’t help but spoil her rotten. I’m getting better at trying to teach her how to act, but I think she can see right through me. I never knew what I was missing having all these boys, until Makaela.

Right now she doesn’t say too many words, but is very talkative. She can gibber all day long. I really can’t remember the boys singing as much as Makaela seems to do. I have no clue what she is singing half the time. She started out saying momma, which was not only for me, but for food, water, toys, and anything else she wanted. She was the first one to say momma before dada. She has now learned Daddy and I think is starting to make up for saying it second, by repeating it over and over just for fun. Slowly her vocabulary is increasing, but still just makes a noise and gets what she wants. Her favorite words right now seem to be No and Mine. Ahh, yes the terrible two’s are upon us; that is the reason for trying harder at disciplining her. Her main words right now are Lady, Noah, Eli, Ian, (Ian and Eli sound very similar) Horsey, baby, and eat. Poor Caleb has such a hard name that I really haven’t heard her say his yet. We are working on “Laleb” though.

I remember with Noah and Caleb I was really into making them say what they wanted before giving it to them. Asking for a drink could turn into a stand off with the boys. Makaela, not so much. I try, especially here recently as I think she should be saying more. The problem I noticed is as I’m standing there trying to get her to say “juice”, a brother walks in and says something. Most of the time they need something too, but sometimes they will come in a distract Makaela. She walks off as if to say “forget it mom, I don’t have time for these games.”

Two Saturdays ago, I was sitting on the edge of the couch when she ran up to me and put her head on my lap. Sweetness! I started to rub her back and the OUCH! She bit me! I of course yelled the “ouch”. It hurt, she only got a little bit of skin, and it shocked me. I pushed her off my lap. To clarify it was just a little push, I didn’t send her flying across the room. I think she was shocked as well, because she started crying before I even started to fuss at her. I’m hoping that it was such a traumatic experience that we won’t have any more biting. I know it’s wishful thinking!

| Nap time with Daddy |
Since she is learning how to share and how not to throw fits when she doesn’t get what she wants; there has been a little bit of an issue with Eli. He seems to be throwing more fits when he doesn’t get what he wants and can be clingy sometimes. I think it is because he sees Makaela and thinks “it is working for her so maybe I should try it;” only problem is he knows better. Our biggest issue is when he sits down a toy and she picks it up. The rule is you sit it down, it is free for someone else. Eli probably think that Makaela stalks him and picks up his toys all the time and gets everything. During one of his fits and me trying to explain that he can’t sit a toy down and walk away, Makaela gave him the toy she had picked up. I was VERY happy that Makaela was sharing and tried to praise her as much as I could. Then I had to try and explain to Eli, the fit won’t work every time.

She loves to help empty the dishwasher, pull the cups and plates out of the cabinet, help with the recycling, play with my cell phone, listen to music, jump, play with babies (including the action heroes) and give mommy a hard time. She cracks me up when she “says” yes- it’s an over done head shake that includes her entire top half of her body.

She is our little princess no matter what. I can’t help but look at her and just want to wrap her up in a hug and yet in that same moment want to pull my hair out! She keeps me on my toes and brings joy to my life. Got to love her!!!
