My To Do’s While John was gone

I had a number of things that I thought I would get done while John was gone.  One I can’t mention because I still want to do it at some point and is kind of a surprise.  That one was a major project and just never worked to get it even started.

Then there was a list of “girlie” movies.  Charlie St. Cloud, 17 Again, Soul Surfer, and Rent.  I did accomplish watching all of them.  Zac Effron was great in both movies.  I’m sure John would have argued that, since in his movies nothing blew up.  I knew what was going to happen in Soul Surfer; and yet I cried like a baby!  I also picked to watch it in the afternoon- had planned on just watching part and then finishing it later; but watch all of it.  It was such an emotional drain for me.  I’m sure everything else that was going on didn’t help.  Still it was a good movie.  Then there was Rent.  I watched that one at night, did cry a little.  I have to admit that I love the song “Seasons of Love”, I was multi tasking while watching the movie, and I had really high expectations for it.  That being said, still love the song, might have missed some parts, and wasn’t as great as I thought it would be.  Overall okay, I guess I expected a stronger story??  Not sure really.  That’s what I get for multitasking and having high expectations.

Then there was the bathroom.  Back in October, before Makaela’s 1 year, we painted the kids bath.  We also added a chair rail and then it the redo stopped.  We found a towel rack at Ikea that was added, but for some reason it just was left.  So, I decided to give it the finishing up it needed.  I had some spots to touch up with paint.  Then I got out the décor that we used in the old house.  I kept thinking about changing it up, but when it came down to it, I couldn’t make up my mind.  Nor did I feel right buying or doing new things when we have stuff to use.  So, I hung the surf board back up.  Hung the two pictures up.  I also decided to get the wall stickers I used the boys old room to add a few extras.  I needed new shower curtain hooks, so I got some dolphin ones.  It’s not “finished”, but at least it looks like it could be.  I want to add shelves for towels and stuff above the toilet.  Wait, let me say this correctly; I want John to add shelves for towels.  The wall stickers, since they are old have a tendency to roll so they will be gone at some point.  I’m calling this project done for now, until whenever we get around to doing the shelves.

Then there was a handprint flower craft I wanted to do with the kids.  This one I just wanted to do to send the the grands, greats, and a few aunts.  Since John’s family was coming down for Easter I had to do it while he was gone.  The kiddos had fun making them.  I laid out one of our painting sheets on the tile floor, laid out all the cardstock pages we needed.  I started with Noah, so he could help with the others, and we just randomly kept painting a hand, and pressing it onto a page.  Since I was a little preoccupied with paint and little ones, I didn’t take any pictures other than the one below.  I had a fear that someone would knock paint over or step on one of the pictures.  I added the stems and a date to each of the pictures after everyone had gone to bed and the hands were dry.  They were easy, despite my stress of the paint.  Another Pinterest success.

Other than John’s dad, the rest haven’t left the house yet. I’m terrible about getting things in the mail. So that part is still on the To Do ASAP list.  The “soon” part is what I’m having trouble with.  Life seems to stay pretty busy.
