Being worn out and having a lot to do before we left the next day for my parents’ we didn’t play in the snow. It was SO cold that the snow only started to melt the next day as we were packing up. We made it that evening for a family birthday party for Bridgette. It was a night of cake and Just Dance 4. We had our own boy band for some One Direction. And all Makaela wanted to listen to is her song, Call Me Maybe.
Uncle David showed up after we were there and he was back to bribing Makaela for her affection. At Mimi’s funeral he had a pocket full of candy and he was back at it again this visit. Poor guy, does he realize she has figured it out??? She is a smart little thing!
Bridgette is REALLY in to Korean shows and such; so my mom got the best mom ever award with her gifts. The pig-bunny is from one of the shows she watches and we have heard about this thing for years now. That was one stuff animal Aunt Bridgette didn’t want her nephews and niece playing with!
The rest of our visit was pretty laid back. John and I did some shopping for Noah’s birthday. It’s funny how when we have babysitters and the chance to go out and do something just the two of us, we really aren’t in the mood. We did enjoy a nice quiet lunch and afternoon out before we headed back to the house. Aunt Mary made cookies with the kids. A real treat for them since 1- we don’t make cookies from scratch that often and 2- she tried to let them lick the beaters. My kids don’t get the beaters very often. It might go back to the fact that Noah had an egg allergy as a baby and I don’t like giving them sweets since they have enough energy! Doesn’t matter, in my family I’m a mean mommy since my kids don’t know what to do when they are handed a beater!
The next day I went with the girls to help my sister fix up her new office and John took on my mom’s backyard. This summer they cut down a lot of branches from the dead trees. It has been a slow job trying to cut them all up, so John decided he would help. He likes a project! The kids pitched in a helped some when they weren’t playing around. John and Dad even built more firewood stands to hold the wood in that they cut. We already have one load of firewood from the piles, I’m thinking we will have to get more before the end of winter.
Looking through all the pictures that were taken when we were with my family, you can tell Makaela is the only girl! Her aunts and grandma are spoiling her rotten!
On New Year’s Eve we were on our way back home. We had a good visit, but like every time the kids wished it would have been longer.
