After all the trips for Mimi, Christmas was quickly approaching. This year I had tried something new with the kids’ presents. Instead of putting name tags on them we used 5 different wrapping paper. (Yes, I saw it on Pinterest.) The first morning the kids woke up to find some of their gifts under the tree they were really caught off guard by no names. Then once they figured out they couldn’t tell whose were whose they were mad, especially when John and I told them we knew whose were whose. Noah went on and on about how unfair it was. Caleb figured out that it had to do with the wrapping paper and spent a little time trying to figure it out. Once they figured out we weren’t going to tell them they lost interest in the presents. I thought it was awesome. Years before they would count and compare the gifts, this year it didn’t matter. Not sure if we will start a new tradition, but I enjoyed it. If only I could post videos on here!
Here are a few other things that happened the last weeks before Christmas. First up, a random picture of Makaela in front of the tree.
The little kids made me laugh as the little sister pulled her big brothers around. She pulled them from the gate all the way to the play area, by herself. One strong little girl!
John had breakfast with Noah and Caleb one morning at school. The kids sang a few Christmas songs for all the Dads.
There was also Caleb’s Christmas Concert. He is such a serious performer. The little kids enjoyed going and dancing to Feliz Navidad.
Then to help John and I get our Christmas shopping done my dad came up. He stayed with the kiddos while John and I did a marathon Christmas shopping trip one evening. Proudly we got all our kids’ gifts, with just a few family gifts left. Dad had a very interesting time with the kids. He has the Aggie War Hymn as his ring tone on his phone, so he taught the little ones how to march like they were in the Aggie Band while it played. He then gave the kids an option at bed time to either get on the Nice list and go to bed or get on the Naughty list and stay up. Eli chose to stay up. The next day I talked to him about why he wanted to be on the Naughty list, I guess Papaw didn’t explain it very well. He told me he was on the Nice list. I told him, but you didn’t go to bed so you were on the Naughty list. He assured me he was on the Nice list. I asked him why he didn’t go to bed and he said he wanted to stay up, but then he went to bed later, so he was back on the Nice list. Eli was right, he did go to bed; next time I guess Papaw has to give a time to that Naughty/ Nice list option.
Only a few more days till Christmas!
