A Week of Rachel and Ethan

We started the week the same as the week before- painting.  Since we had painted the kitchen we had to paint the dining and entry way.  I got on this painting kick because I have started to get tired of all the marks and such on the walls that I can’t clean off.  The builder grade paint doesn’t really allow for scrubbing after a car’s wheels leave black marks across the wall.  Rachel and Ethan were able to keep the kids entertained as John and I started painting.  Monday, I tried to finish painting and ran out of paint.

Tuesday, I had an extra pair of hands at the grocery store which was very nice.  John picked up more paint after work.  The kids played soccer that afternoon.  I think it is funny to see that no matter the age, competition between siblings is very intense.

Wednesday I thought I would finish painting.  I got about a third done when I noticed the paint had a different sheen.  I went and looked and John had accidently bought the low shine instead of semi gloss.  A simple mistake since our sample that he took with him was low shine.  So, I put up the paint loaded all the kids up and ran to Home Depot to get the correct sheen.  By noon I had finished painting.  I think I’m going to take a break from painting for a while.

That evening we spent more time outside of course, playing football.

I caught Eli and Makaela playing with the wagon all by themselves.  Too sweet!

Thursday got the house cleaned up and laundry caught up.  My sisters Lauren and Mary were heading our way that night and we had plans to go to the water park on Friday.  Then Saturday everyone else would be showing up for Eli and Makaela’s Baptisms.  I think the boys enjoyed Rachel and Ethan being around to help with their chores.  Aunt and Uncle helped them pick up toys and empty the dishwasher.  I also let them play a lot more than I usually do when we have visitors coming.  With it being so hot out I got out our extra buckets so they could have a water fight.  I gave Makaela her own bucket to keep her from empting the other buckets the boys were using to fill their water guns.  She enjoyed dumping water on Aunt Rachel and Eli joined in.  Ethan is not a fan of having water in his face, but he played with the boys.

Lauren and Mary Kate made it late Thursday night, the kids had already gone to bed so they would be ready for the fun filled Friday we had planned.
