The last few weeks of summer were nothing too out of the ordinary. I let the kids play more and tried to get a few things organized before school. Since, Noah and Caleb did really well this summer keeping up with reading and math I let them take a break. Shark Week was a source of entertainment during the hot afternoons. One of my “to do’s” was looking at new ideas for school lunches. The Facebook post for that day was:
The idea- look up ideas for school lunches. The problem- I have one of the PICKIEST 7yr olds in the world!
Noah turned down everything I found online, except for chips and salsa! Caleb was up for anything I wanted to try. Ian wanted to know if he could get a lunch too.
The best part of our ordinary week was a visit from friends that we haven’t seen in years! Terrell and Aimee went to OSU with John. We have a lot of good memories together before John and I moved to Texas and we all started having kids. It became a little more difficult for us to hang out then. It has been since Ian was a baby- way too long! We’ve called each other, sent a few baby announcements, and kept in touch with Facebook. They have three little boys, one the same age as Noah, another between Caleb and Ian, and the littlest who is crawling. Makaela didn’t mind that there were three extra boys in the house, since little Brooks was there. The girl is baby crazy! Oh and she had fun getting Ms. Aimee to hold all her babies, while she was holding Brooks. Alex and Jacob were at home in the play room. Literally, we have a lot of the same toys! I guess that happens when you have boys of the same age. Makaela tried to share her toys with Brooks, but she found out he doesn’t like girlie dolls. Amazingly, Aimee got a picture of the group with everyone smiling, well everyone except Makaela. She has to be difficult! I think the boys enjoyed the visit!
The many ways we have to keep in touch over long distances are awesome, but this visit reminded me that nothing beats just hanging out in person. We all hope to see our friends again soon!
