A little about Fred.
This is actually the second year with Fred. Last year he began his mission to remind the Allen boys to be good at Christmas. He just quietly watches and reports to Santa all he sees. Last year the boys would find him in the morning, tell him what they wanted for Christmas, and even tattled on each other to Fred. Fred was new to his post and there is always a learning period.
This year, he got out right before we left for Thanksgiving. He had missed his ride back with Santa last year because he wanted to see what Christmas was like. Since this was his second year and everyone talking about what their elves do; I had to have a talk with Fred. I told him we had 5 kids and it was going to be a long time until he could retire, so don’t over work himself. What ever he did this year he would have to repeat for many years to come! I then told him that I have kids that make lots of messes and do crazy things- I didn’t need an elf to encourage that kind of behavior. Fred is an understanding elf, so he did what every good elf does, watch over and report to Santa.
Everyday, the boys wake up in the morning trying to find Fred. It’s like a game to see who will find him first. Aunt Lauren was visiting one night and slept in the playroom, only to be awaken by little boys looking for Fred. A few mornings the boys found him in the same spot. This led to a lot of questions- “Did he not go see Santa?” “Were we bad and he didn’t want to have to tell Santa only bad things?” “Did he just really like sitting in our boat?” Fred is SO smart to make them think!!!
He REALLY liked the boat. When we came back from Thanksgiving we found him on the deer.
The wreath in the living room, on top the fridge, and the fan in the living room.
In the playroom on top with all the Christmas Decorations,
On the entertainment center, next to his buddy for the OSU vs OU game, over the front door,
We think he got cold by the front door because he was wrapped up in the decorations on the mantel the next night. Then in the bathroom on the towel ring.
In a stocking, on the garland, in a poinsettia.
On top the shelf, on the dining room chandelier,
On top of the kitchen cabinets,
Think he was trying to give the boys a hint here. Hiding in the tree.
Again on the mantle, the corner of the TV, and hanging out on the top of a little tree.
More on Fred to come…
