Christmas Eve

Christmas with my family is … well, for lack of a better word, interesting.  There is always something going on.  If you think about it, it’s a house with 17 people in it!  You have little kids, teenagers, young adults, adults, parents, and grandparents.  All with lots of personality and attitude.  Oh, and then throw in 4 dogs!!!  A lab puppy, a young mutt, a older Chihuahua, and a old Lady.  Never a dull moment!!!

Christmas Eve was a busy day.  We ran out of time to cut the boys hair before we left, so Uncle David and Grandma set up a hair cutting assembly line.  I think we need to do this more often!

The boys, Bridgette, Rachel, and Ethan went with Papaw to see Chip-wrecked (the Chipmunk movie).  This allowed time for John, Zach, and Sam to put together the trampoline that Bridgette, Rachel, and Ethan got for Christmas.  A few years back they put one together after midnight mass, which was not fun.  This year went quickly and was warmer- they put it together in the garage.  Then Lauren, Mary, David, and I helped put the trampoline over the fence and into the backyard.  This was good practice for John, since Grandma and Papaw bought the boys one as well.

Later that night we all got dressed up for Christmas Eve mass.  We usually go to midnight mass, but this year we went a little earlier.  Since everyone wasn’t too tired and cranky after mass; we were able to take a family picture with the Birthday Boy.

Once we were home we took our annual family photos.  I really wish I had the software that allows you change faces from different photos.  It’s always a chore to get everyone looking and smiling at the camera all at the same time.

Christmas Eve ended with a snack, leaving cookies for Santa, making sure we covered the front yard with food for the reindeer, and the little ones tucked into bed trying to sleep despite being excited.
