Then life happened… At about 5am Ian woke complaining his stomach hurt. He got up a few times, but would go back to sleep. When everyone was up getting ready for school and such, Ian got sick. Noah was upset that no one was going to come to his concert. I felt bad and kept trying to think of a way to make it happen. We had to least go to the school and drop off the teacher gifts, since Noah and Caleb ran out of room for them. So, we all started getting ready. Ian got sick again, so I thought it was just going to be a drop off. During all of this Lady wanted to go outside, with the all the rain we had the day before I let her out in the front yard. I thought she wouldn’t get left outside this time because we would see her when loaded the car. We haven't been the best here lately with keeping up with her. She was left outside all night recently, because I thought she was already back inside sleeping. She sneaks out when we're leaving or the boys go outside to see the bus and no one notices she's not inside. But this morning I was not forgetting!
We were ready to leave and Ian actually started acting and saying he was feeling better. I kept my fingers crossed. Then we went outside and Lady was no where to be found. I spent about 10 minutes whistling and looking for her. I didn't forget this time, but she wasn’t around; I was not happy. We were going to be late for Noah’s concert, if Ian continued to feel okay; so we left.
Ian was feeling good and so we decided to brave the concert. I told him DON’T touch anything or anyone! Keep all germs to yourself! We sat close to the restrooms just in case. Noah’s class was already sitting on the stage when we found our seats. He was soo excited. Even if Ian got sick again, I think it was worth showing up. He showed everyone his siblings and the kids were yelling for them and waving. Eli and Ian liked the attention from the big kids. I know Ian will be telling stories about "his" friends.
Noah is not upset, just being silly. His pouting face and his opera singer pose.
We made it through the concert with no problems! YEEEESSSSS!!!! The boys sat quietly except for Ian laughing a little and Eli asking to see the video I was taking. Makaela started out sitting and watching Noah. After a few songs she got bored and decided to dance, wave at everyone, and talk some. During Silent Night, she decided to really start talking; especially when they stopped singing and just did the signs. I was just glad I didn't have to run up and get her off the stage! We managed to make it to both the classrooms to drop of the teacher gifts. As we just got to talk to Caleb to give him the gift and tell him we weren't going to stay; Santa appeared in the doorway. He greeted everyone with a “HOHOHO” and Makaela started to whimper. I looked down at Eli and he had a face that didn't look promising. Santa very nicely backed up, waved to the kids telling them "I'm really not that scary;" letting us out so he could say hi to everyone else.
As we left Ian said “my tummy hurts”. What timing! We got in the car and hurried home. We said a few prayers that Lady was at home and safe. When we got there she was laying on the front porch- crazy dog! I think I'm going to have to just start dealing with the mud and only let her out in the back- that was way too stressful!
Even though the plan didn’t play out the way I had thought, it worked. Or well, the idea worked! I’m just glad we got to see the concert. The rest of the day- there are no plans just go with whatever comes up! I keep having to learn the lesson that you CAN’T make plans with little kids!!! There is no telling what will happen next! I'm sure I will try again next time!!! I'll never really learn!
