At Makaela’s 1 year checkup, she didn’t have any teeth yet. She didn’t even show any real signs of getting any soon either. The doctor made me a little worried that she was behind and there could be problems. I kept trying to tell myself everything was fine and she would have teeth soon enough. All the boys waited a good while to start teething, Ian was the latest. The only problem was I didn’t keep up with things like this, and I wasn’t exactly sure when he had his first tooth. So, what the doctor said kept me a little worried. I felt a little better after talking to our pediatric dentist; he assured me she was fine.
Then finally on the weekend of the 17th, her first tooth broke through her gums. I don’t think I have ever been so relieved to see a tooth. It’s still not too big so it doesn’t show up in pictures just yet. Not having teeth hasn’t slowed her down. She eats everything and lots of it! The pictures below show her cute spaghetti covered face!
On the 17th we decided that she needed a trim. The boys by this time would have had about 4 haircuts. I guess this is what happen when you have kids born with tons of hair! We have already trimmed her hair once this summer, but this time I wasn’t sure I could do it myself. We wanted to make sure it was straight since we are one cut away from her hair being all the same length. She did really well considering it was her first time. I also have to say the lady that cut it was really good. Or should I say QUICK! She kept turning her head, standing up and sitting down in my lap. It came out really cute! She also got a balloon to make sure she wanted to go back. The pictures may not show the cut very well, but her and her balloon are cute!
