New Year and Football

On New Year’s Eve we went to Mass and then laid around the house watching TV.  After such a long Christmas and all the traveling I could not keep my eyes open to ring in the New Year.  My sisters, Lauren and Mary were in Austin with my Aunt Linda and cousin Kristen; so I texted them to ring in the New Year for me.  John and I can’t help it we are that old married couple!  Oh well, we had a big day on the first, so sleep was needed.

Oklahoma State was playing in the Heart of Dallas Bowl at the “old” Cotton Bowl stadium on New Years Day.  The big boys, John included, got tickets for Christmas, they were SO excited.  John and I thought it was crazy that it was cheaper to go to a bowl game than it would be to go to Stillwater for a game.  They put on as many layers as we could fit and headed to the game.  They had a blast!  Since not many people were there they were able to move around and changed seats a few times.  The score was all OSU as poor Purdue could never get anything going.  Noah made everyone stay till OSU got the trophy after winning.

The little kids and I watched the game on TV.  I told them to look for Daddy and the boys, so every time they showed the stands I heard, “there’s Daddy!”.

After the game they enjoyed lunch and a desert at Chili’s.

When they got home I had to hear all about the game.  Noah kept asking if I saw a play or start telling me about a play, I had to keep reminding him that we did watch the game at home.  Noah was in heaven!  He loves sports and I think this was the best day ever for him.  Caleb enjoyed it too.  He told me about how the yellow line is not on the field.  John said he would lose the ball during the game and get confused about what was going on, but seemed to enjoy it.  Ian was in awe that he got to go.  He was probably a little young to follow what was going on, but he was there and that was all that mattered to him.  What a memorable way to start the new year!
