Sick in Vegas

John had to go to Las Vegas for work.  At first that sounds like a big “oh poor him” laced with sarcasm, but he really didn’t feel up to going.  It sounded like it would be a cool visit since he was going to a big technology show where his company had a booth.  He was only going to be there one night and would have to work the booth, so there would really be no time for "playing".  The day he left was a miserable day.  It was raining and had been raining for a day, some areas had some flooding.  He decided to drive himself to the airport and missed the exit.  Then he got stuck in traffic when he tried to turn around due to road closures.  It took him hours to get moving again.  I was on the phone with him trying to help him find a new route through the traffic.  He missed his flight and had to call and see if he could change the flight.  He was still sitting in traffic when he got his flight changed so he was hoping that he would make it.  We finally got him out of traffic and he got to the airport with no other major issues.  He mentioned that he wasn’t feeling the greatest before the flight, but hoped it was because of the stressed morning he had.

When he landed in Vegas he still wasn’t feeling well.  He checked into the hotel and then went to the company’s booth.  He worked the booth still not feeling well and when the show was over and everyone else went to eat dinner.  He walked back to the hotel (took some pictures as he walked), grabbed dinner at a CVS when he stopped for meds, and was in bed by 8 Vegas time.  It was 10 our time, so that comforted him knowing he was at least going to bed at a normal hour.  He was able to sleep in the next morning.  He still didn’t feel the best, but he managed to walk around and see some of the show before his flight home.

Most of his pictures of course what he knew those left behind would want to see, cars and TVs.  The boys thought it was too cool that he got to take a picture with Iron Man.  That was only after they found out it was not a card board cut out or statue.  They did want to know who he was shooting at.

I felt so bad for him as he made he was home not feeling good.  Once he made it back he still had to drive home.  He made it home late that night and had decided he wasn’t going in to work the next day.  I prayed he didn’t have the flu, it turned out to just be a cold.  Hopefully his next trip goes better!
