The day before his birthday he lost another tooth. He was so excited. The tooth fairy has been very busy with him the last month. He loss one before Christmas, one right after Christmas, and now another the day before his birthday.
We didn’t do balloons and streamers. John and I asked him if we needed to do it and he looked at us funny. I then asked him if he was getting too old for streamers and balloons or if he still like them. He thought about it and said “I don’t need them.” Our baby is growing up, not just in our eyes, but I guess his eyes too.
His birthday was very different this year. We opened gifts early so he could have time to play with them that day. We also didn’t do cake. We asked Noah what kind of cake did he want and he came up with just ice cream. So, after dinner we gave him a bowl of ice cream with a candle on top and sang Happy Birthday. He was funny when everyone called him telling them his list of gifts, including the dollar from the tooth fairy, and the fact that he was eating ice cream.
Can’t believe it has been eight years since he made his first appearance. I remember holding him for the first time and being overwhelmed with emotions. He is getting to be our big kid. As John’s dad informed him, “you are half way to 16”. At eight he loves sports, listening to music, dancing, and playing with his siblings. He has decided that he is not going to have a girlfriend in second grade (mom cheers!) and gets really upset if you tease him about girls. He still is very dramatic and particular about how things have to be. He is a competitor and works hard to be the best at what he enjoys. He likes to learn and for the most part enjoys school. He is known by the PE instructor as “the runner” and has lead the class in AR points for two six weeks. I hope the next eight years go slower than the first eight years did.
