This was the last set of games of the regular season. We have notice the boys not being as aggressive as they were in the beginning of the season. I believe that Ian and Caleb are trying to be more “team” players and back-off. Problem is no one on their team has the want or skills to step up. So their game was VERY frustrating. At one point I had my hands in the air looking at Caleb with that “what were you thinking look”. Ian was more aggressive, but being little makes it harder. He would try so hard, but then lose the ball to a faster and bigger person on the other team. Caleb took a few shots, but took them from almost mid-field. The team they played always has two players back, so those shots never got too close to the goal. It was a hard game to watch and the boys came up without a win. They were very tired at the end of the game.
Noah’s team has dominated the last few games, so after they get a pretty big lead in the first half he plays Noah as a defense player. This week in the first round of the second half Noah was a defense player and did really well. His kick has gotten stronger and he is able to kick back to the other side of the field if the opposite team makes a run for the goal. Noah’s team pulled off another win 6-0.
Next weekend are the playoff game. John had it figured out that if either team won or lose they still wouldn’t play each other in the first round of games. Yes, we are those parents. I know it’s just 7U soccer, but we REALLY didn’t want the first game to be brother vs. brothers. Unfortunately the way this season has played out Noah’s team is a stronger team. So, when you play one and out, you don’t want your loss to come from your older brother.
We have two more days of practice and then one more Saturday of games. I’m a little sad to think the season is over, I’ll miss it. I am a little curious to see what we do with the spare time we will have after next week!
