Makaela’s Hair

Makaela got her second professional haircut this past Saturday.  And in honor of it I thought I would show the many wonderful hairstyles of the little princess.  I guess this is what happens when you have so much hair and you are the only girl!

Second Professional Cut:

Makaela’s hair was getting long as you can tell above.  It was still a little uneven from when she was a baby, so it was time to get it cut off and start fresh.  At first I nervously wanted to cut it right at her chin.  John didn’t like that idea, so I thought right above the shoulders.  We went right after the soccer games on Saturday which may have been our first mistake.  She sat in the chair next to me reading a magazine and when I asked her if she was getting her haircut, she said no.  She meant it because when we tried to get her to sit in the chair, she had a breakdown.  One of those where you apologize to everyone in the place.  We tried sitting in daddy’s lap, still screaming.  He got his hair cut as I talked to her about it.  When it was her turn again, she still wasn’t wanting it.  I’m sure you can see a little tear from the pictures.  I finally sat down put her in my lap and let her play with the cell phone.  At this point, we went for a very simple cut.  It is longer than I wanted, but it got cut. We ended on a good note with her shaking her head and looking in the mirror at herself.  Hopefully, no more screaming fits the next time around.

That night I did find out that she still had some really long strands that didn’t get cut.  I’m not sure if it was due to the part or the bump in her hair from her hair being pulled back earlier that day.  After I built up some confidence and got over being upset for paying for the haircut; I got out the scissors and trimmed the long pieces.  She was fine when I cut her hair.  Are we over the fear of haircuts?  I guess we will find out next time.
