Still Haven’t Stopped Improving

With the opening of “mommy’s school” I figured out there was a lot of things I wanted redone!  Number one was the kids play room.  We hadn’t really spent much time in there other than me trying to get it organized and hanging up some pictures and their sports t-shirts.  After last Christmas that organization went out the window.  I told myself this past summer I would get in there and reorganize with all the new stuff.  I tried.  I just figured out we didn’t have enough tubs, shelves, and other organizational stuff to do it right.  So, it was put off until I could figure out exactly what the “right” way was.  After a lot of hours looking online, Pinterest pinning, and going over design ideas with my engineer (aka John), we may have it figured out.  One afternoon as John and I were discussing the ideas he sketched out a picture of the room and a bookcase idea I had been thinking about.  Good thing our desk has glass on the top for occasions like this!

We took measurements and decided to change the bookcase from the corner like on our table drawing to another wall.  Then during Labor day weekend he bought the wood and started on them.  It is a tall order.  One of my biggest orders so far.  I have nothing but confidence that he will get them done and they will look great.

This is what I want them to look like…

The first part of this project is the three bottom boxes, then he will make the three top bookcases.  The plan is to make them easy to move.  Since I’m taking so long getting this posted.  We actually have been working on the bottom boxes and have gotten them almost done.  Before staining them we brought them into the house to see how they would look.  The blank spot in the middle of their sports stuff is where another bookcase was.  I don’t think I will be able to complain about storage after these get finished!

Now we are even closer. They are stained and need another coat of varnish to make sure they are ready for the kiddos!

I’m hoping that the bottom boxes will have a little space for playing once the other bookcases are built.  This is where I hope to give the kids space to write and do things for “mommy school”.  Once it is all done I hope we can move all the craft stuff and other supplies into the playroom and that way every thing is in one area.  The best part will be that it is not in my closet anymore!
