Since we had gotten back from Liberty Hill late Sunday night, I thought I would let the boys sleep in and take them to school the next day. I woke them up and told them they didn’t have to rush to make the bus. The next thing I know they are dressed and ready. Noah didn’t want me to take him, he wanted to ride the bus. Well, he and Caleb were able to catch the bus, which was probably a good thing. I didn’t wake Makaela up and she wound up sleeping until after 8. Not a normal wakeup time since school had started.
I was SO thankful that my parents were able to get the suburban to the dealership, so we could get that fixed. It was the transmission, that was replaced in 2009. I hate dealing with cars. My mom has a Honda Pilot and have put it on the list of possible cars to look into for our next one. I did our normal grocery shopping and figured out that it takes some careful packing to fit all the groceries in the car. I’m glad I only had three kids with me! I’m loving the gas mileage though.
This week was the first week of Faith Formation for the three older boys. We put Ian in the PreK class. He was SUPER excited. He really wanted to go to school this year. The teachers went on and on about how wonderful he was. I was super excited to hear that, since I’m always a little worried he will be the one that gets in trouble at school.
Noah has never been one to want to do homework. Okay, not most kids do. So far Caleb never seems to mind homework. He comes in and gets right on it. Noah can have his bad days were he wants to complain about having homework. We had one of those days this week. He kept going on and on about how it was boring and stupid. I told him it didn’t matter what he thought really, he had homework, he will continue to have homework, and there were too many years ahead of us to start acting like this. I mentioned Caleb doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and he said Caleb’s homework is easier. He started one of his Noah rants and I asked him to hold on a minute while I got the camera. He looked at me funny. I told him that last year we went through the same thing and now he was saying that homework was easy, so I wanted to get this on film so next year when he did it again we could watch the video. He laughed a little, stopped fussing and went to do his homework. I haven’t had any more problems with him again. I guess next time I don’t need to say anything, just go get the camera!
We also found out the soccer teams for the boys. The age groups they had put Caleb and Ian in the same group and Noah by himself. Our first coach to hear from emailed letting us know our child was on her team. We sent an email back asking “which child?” She laughed and informed us it was Caleb. Yep, no Ian. I got upset since I was told when I signed them up that they look at the names and put siblings on the same team. So, I called and got that straightened out. We then heard from Caleb and Ian’s coach then Noah’s. The boys have been practicing soccer every chance they get. This should be an interesting season.
While we were at my mom’s she gave Makaela a costume that she had bought her. I told her to save it for her birthday, but Grandma couldn’t wait. We tried putting it on her at mom’s but she refused. I finally got her in it. The tulle, I guess is itchy for our little princess; so with clothes underneath it, she put it on. At first she wasn’t sure if she wanted to take pictures. Then she started to pose. I can’t help but laugh when she says “cheese” and shows those two bottom teeth. I even got her to “give kisses to Grandma”. We first put it on with pj’s, then I got her to change and wear normal clothes for a while. Later that afternoon she had it back on. She is starting a routine of sitting in John’s lap while he catches up on email and such before dinner. John had to really make room for her in the dress!
On Saturday is was a double headed with OSU football on TV followed by the Aggies. It was pretty cute when I walked in from outside to see John and his little Cowboys watching the start of the game.
