This past Saturday it was raining and cold. Instead of working on the deck we decided to have a family day out of the house. We went to the IMAX at the Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas to see Sharks. It was a good movie about endangered sharks. I think it got them in the mood for Shark Week, because Noah did mention that “if all the sharks go extinct there won’t be shark week.” Now his tone was very concerned and he wanted to know what he could do to save the sharks. Mommy’s environmentalist.
Next, we went to the mall to look for shoes and clothes that the kids needed. I always find it stressful to shop for myself, because things just never fit right. Well, I have the same problem with my kids. We tried on a ton of different sizes and it’s either too big in the waist or too short! We left the mall with everyone tired and hungry! As we were leaving the parking lot, I made a comment about how my sock was bothering me. It had moved causing my pinky toe to hurt. As I finish complaining I hear Noah’s voice, “Why don’t you fix it then?” I’m glad we hadn’t made it out of the parking lot, because John was laughing hysterically. He gave Noah a high five and a fist bump for that. I snickered, smiled, and shook my head. I know I had a hand in making that smart little kid. I would have probably said the same thing.
We were at dinner and the boys were coloring and talking. This was Noah’s picture on the back of the kid’s meal. At the top he drew the Mayflower- he said earlier in the year he remembered studying it and a picture with crosses on the ship.
This is where I think John had one of his proudest “dad” moments. Noah explained to him that he was drawing different bike designs. Then went on to show that on the left side of his drawing he had shown the different parts of the bike. Now, to most normal people this may not look like much, but to engineer!!!! Noah was drawing the “Exploded View” and John thought it was AWESOME!! We asked why he drew the parts and he said “because people need to see the different parts.” We inquired more and he told us that he had seen in in the books (manuals) done like that. On the right he went on to draw the breakdown on the seats. Daddy’s little engineer!
Noah was really on a roll that day- our crazy little man!!
