Today marks the 10th year of our shared rivalry. It all started on November 1, 1997 when John drove from Stillwater, OK to join me for our first OSU vs. A&M game at Kyle field. We sat with all my Sea Aggie friends (I was going to A&M Galveston at the time) on third deck. It was a good game that went into over time and the Aggies finally won!
From then on we were driving or flying (Thanks again Dad for the air miles) to stand together but stand apart on who we wanted to win. After graduating we’ve been able to go to a few games at Kyle Field with Darin and Laura. Or we sit on different couches and watch the game on TV. To the victor goes the top place on the Christmas tree! It has been a fun rivalry that I don’t want to think might end with A&M trying to leave the Big 12 this year.
When we started having kids, with or families and friends’ help we have confused them all.
Or they have just learned if you want to be on Mom’s good side- say you like the Aggies, or for Dad’s- say you like the Cowboys. It’s all in good fun, just like adjusting the Christmas ornaments because your team lost that year.
What ever happens today the victor will keep her (ok maybe his) bragging to herself (alright himself) so that way no feelings are hurt in this football loving family. And then when basketball season come it starts all over again!!
