The Zoo

Not to be confused with our home.

Yes, my home is like a zoo, wild animals running around, always some kind of mess that needs cleaning, and lots of weird noises!  But today we are taking a trip back to Labor Day when we went to the Ft. Worth Zoo.  A beautiful Monday lots of sunshine and cooler temperatures.  We had the idea that the cooler temperatures would get the animals out and enjoying the weather just like we wanted to do.  I think everyone had the same idea because the zoo was packed but we didn’t mind at all.  I… umm, WE had been waiting for this trip all summer.  Okay, it was mostly me.  That was one of the perks for moving here- closer to the zoo.  I’m like a kid in the candy shop when I get to go to places like zoos and aquariums.  For my birthday I asked for a zoo membership!  Who needs jewelry!

The last time we had been to the zoo I was pregnant with Eli, so this was Eli’s and Makaela’s first trip.  They seemed to enjoy themselves.  Eli was in the front of the stroller and if you stopped for any length of time he was sliding out to take a look around.

Needed a lift!

Makaela was limited in the stroller so I’m glad that I remembered the peanut shell I had borrowed from my good friend, Adrienne.  It worked so well when she was a baby giving me hands to deal with the boys, but she had gotten bigger and I had to stop using it.  I had recently put it up to give back to Adrienne when I saw the picture where you could use it on your hip.  I hadn’t tried it before but grabbed it at the last minute to try out at the zoo.  I’m SO GLAD I did.  It was wonderful to have.  After a while she did get a little heavy but we had been there for over 4 hours, it was going to happen.  Having her in the peanut shell allowed her to see everything and gave me free hands for the bigger boys.  She even curled up and took a nap in it.  I tried putting her in the stroller while she was sleeping but that didn’t last long.  Note to self  if I should have another and anyone expecting- get a peanut shell worth the money!!!

Okay maybe the animals are cute too!
Since our trip about 2 years ago, the zoo had finished their reptile exhibit and it was AWESOME!  The crocodile pond was just wonderful.  The boys loved it!  Noah is turning into our little photographer so he had a camera and took tons of pictures from that exhibit.  I had pictures of animals I couldn’t identify because all I had was a leg, but he got a picture of that leg!

We had lots of fun and I personally can’t wait till we go back.  I’m trying very hard not to take a trip when it’s just me and the little ones.  Who needs to do laundry or clean house!
