Santa brought the kids Giant Creatures that grow in water. The boys were excited and had to be convinced not to open them at Grandma’s house. We explained how we didn’t know how big they would get and how would be get them home.
Well, we have been dodging putting the creatures in water for some time. The boys had all of them out of the packages and I guess were growing very impatient with us. Eli and Ian I guess decided to take matters into their own hands. Valentine’s Day, I found Ian and Eli in their bathroom running water over the alligator. The alligator was slimy now and could not be put back up, so we found something to put it in. Then I found another creature they had gotten wet. So, we were finally letting two of the creatures grow.
The next day they were no longer fitting, so John and the boys moved the two to our bathtub and added the rest. The kids were very excited to see how big they would get. John joked about taking a bath with them, but we made sure that they were not to get in the tub with the toys. The first night I think they checked them every five minutes. Now, they check in the mornings, when they get home from school, and just whenever they think about it. The sea creatures have gotten pretty big.
The creatures over stayed their welcome a few weeks later. Makaela never fell into the tub- which surprises me; but she did manage to drop a picture frame in. I also have had little ones banging on the door wanting to check on the creatures. I guess they thought the 5 minutes mommy was in the bathroom the creatures will jump out of the tub and run away!
Then we got to the point where they didn’t come and check on them. It was time to get rid of the creatures, but I keep forgetting to get the boys to say good-bye and send them off to the great abyss of the trash. I didn’t want to just throw them away. When I finally remembered the other day, funny thing was they didn’t care. I guess I could have gotten rid of them a long time ago! That’s what I get for trying to be a nice mommy.
