I don’t know why really, but I love the idea that Noah is an Epiphany baby. Jesus was visited by the Wise Men on the Epiphany; this year we didn’t have any wise men visit, just Papa and Uncle Chris.
My first baby turned 7. I think I will say this for every kid and every birthday- but I can’t believe Noah is getting so big!!! I remember everything like it was just yesterday. He is growing up into a caring, sports-fanatic, helpful, wonderful kid. We are very proud of him and who he is becoming.
Every year since I can’t remember when, we have decorated for the kids’ birthdays when they fall asleep. We blow up tons of balloons for the floor of their room and put up streamers in their doorway, on the table, and anywhere else we can without getting caught. We also hang up a Happy Birthday sign. John and I have sometimes wondered if they really cared that it was done. Noah happened to ask the night before his birthday if we were going to blow up balloons and put up streamers. We asked him, “why did he want to know?” He told us that we always do it and he liked it. I guess that is one tradition that he is not too old for yet.
For the first time I actually took cupcakes to school for Noah’s birthday. I had thought it was going to pretty crazy since the three little ones were tagging a long, but it was actually easy. The little ones were quiet and Makaela didn’t try to jump out of the stroller and run down the hallways screaming like I thought she might try. Eli and Ian did well also. They asked if they could also have cupcakes; but were very good when I asked if they would wait till we got home, so they wouldn’t get messy at Noah’s school. We had a nice and healthy snack that afternoon- CUPCAKES!!! Noah seemed to be surprised when we showed up, I hadn’t told him for sure if we were going to make it. He was the class hero for a few minutes as everyone seemed to enjoy their cupcakes.
Since the Allens were coming in that night we postponed the birthday party. Saturday evening we sang Happy Birthday, opened presents, and ate cake. Noah is very funny when he opens presents. He did the same thing with the Christmas presents- opens the gifts and gets SO excited. His dramatic side shows through. We had some OH MY!, I REALLY wanted this!!!, to WOW! He can’t help himself, he loves the attention and entertaining!
Noah was very protective of his cake, since at Bridgette’s birthday the boys blew out her candles before she could.
Uncle Chris, Kelly and Eli. John, Papa, and Lenora look on.
Real tools to help Dad out with. Ian with a bag on his head- something that was done at Bridgette’s birthday that also carried over.
Makaela trying to get a better “seat”. Noah got his DS game he had been wanting.
I guess this is another birthday that will go down as the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!
